This guide walks you through the steps of the research process.

NMH Library Catalog

The NMH Library Catalog is a collection of records for each item the library owns or has access to. This includes all books, eBooks, CDs, DVDs, streaming videos, audiobooks, among others.

You can access the library catalog directly using the link above, by visiting the NMH Hub and choosing Library, or by using this quick search box:

Interlibrary Loan

Books not available at Schauffler Library may be borrowed from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This service, for members of the NMH community, is usually free of charge.

  • Please allow 7-10 days for requested materials to arrive.
  • The loan period, normally 2-4 weeks, is established by the lending library.
  • Occasionally a lending library may charge a borrowing fee. In these cases, NMH patrons will be asked if they want to pay the fee and proceed with the loan.
  • Recently published books and non-print materials are often not available to borrow.

Fill out the Interlibrary Loan Book Request Form and you will be notified when your book is available for pickup.

How Are Books Organized at Schauffler Library?

From Robert Gordon University:

Types of Books

While non-fiction books are organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification System, fiction books are organized alphabetically by the author's last name.
