World Languages: Getting Started: Articles & More

What is a Database?

A database is a collection of information organized for easy retrieval, with the information usually behind a paywall. The Library provides NMH students and staff access to over 80 databases.

Library Databases might organize:

  • articles from scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, and trade publications
  • ebooks
  • streaming video or audio
  • images
  • reports
  • biographies
  • statistics
  • and so much more!

The information in the databases might be available in multiple ones, but sometimes databases have original content or are only provided for resources. Think of it as Netflix, Hulu, Max, etc. Each works very similarly and has some of the same content, but then there are shows/movies/documentaries only available on one platform.

Interlibrary Loan Request for Articles

Students and staff do NOT need to pay for resources for your classes. If you have found an article or report you would like for your research project but you cannot access due to a paywall, please submit the Interlibrary Loan Request--Article form below. We will email you once the article or report is available. Please allow up to one week for inquiries.
