Course Description

The Islamic Middle East curriculum provides an interdisciplinary approach to the history, geography, politics, society and culture of the Middle East through the prism of its predominant religion, Islam. Students will explore the foundation of Islam in 7th century Arabia up to current dynamics across the broader Middle East. This is an introductory course to the region and religion that aims to provoke further questions. Students engaging fully in this course will begin to develop a deeper understanding of the region and will have a basis to further explore complex concepts and systems with a critical lens.
